“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, “- 2 Corinthians 5:17-18a KJV
Have you ever thought about starting over? Being able to become a new person again? Let go of and erase the things of the past especially the not-so-good parts?
Well, this is the promise tucked into our key verse today. God promises us that when we come to Christ, we are born again. We become new and surrender our old person for the new person that Jesus transforms us into. What an amazing truth!
Today, God wants you to know that you are a new person because you have accepted the gift of grace He has extended to you through His Son Jesus Christ. You have been redeemed! You see, you were once kidnapped by a fierce enemy whose intention was to steal, kill, and destroy you. The price for your ransom no one could pay… except for Jesus. Without a shadow of a doubt, Jesus left his throne in heaven and decided to pay your ransom with His precious blood as He bled and died on the cross for YOU. To win you back.
You are no longer a slave to your old master. You are no longer a slave to sin, but you are now a child of God. God has called you out of darkness by name (Isaiah 43:1) and you are now His. You are now in the hands of the most loving Father and Sovereign God of the universe. Once, there was a record with your name on it but when God made things new again (Revelation 21:5), He expunged your record and your debt was marked PAID IN FULL.
So go out into the world and tell somebody what Jesus has done for you. Embrace your new beginning, embrace the new you! There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. With Jesus, you are a new creature. Your new beginning started the day you welcomed Him into your heart. So let go of your past, it no longer serves you. It can no longer hurt you and it does not define you. Jesus defines you and he says “I make all things new, especially YOU because I love you with an everlasting love.” So believe in Him and begin to live your new life today!
Blessed Redeemer, how can I ever thank you enough for the new beginning I found in you. I praise your holy name. You are wonderful. I thank you for coming into my heart and transforming me by your Spirit. I praise you and thank you for your blood shed for me. May I always be mindful of the incredible sacrifice you made for me. I thank you for loving me and restoring me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
