Get Your Praise On

I will extol You, my God, O King;
And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable. – Psalms 145:1-3

God is our King! One day He spoke things into existence, with no point of reference, and they came to reality. He said, “let there be light”, and there was light. One day, He said, “let there be this child of mine”, and you were formed in your mother’s womb to see the light of day and you are still here. How amazing is our God! Isn’t this reason enough to praise Him? He deserves our praises every day, whether there be rain or sunshine, God is to be praised.

Develop a habit of praising God for who He is and for all His wonderful and mighty works in your lives. If you are still breathing, praise Him. If you have your eyesight, praise Him. If you can taste, praise Him. Friend, if you take the time to count your blessings, you will easily find a hundred reasons to praise this incredible God that we serve. And an incredible God deserves an incredible praise every day.

Take the time to praise the Lord and say like David “Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that within me, bless His holy name” (Psalms 103:1). When you make it a habit to praise God each day, without even making any requests, you develop of a heart of gratitude. You will connect with the Lord of lords and see His true character. You will change your skewed perceptions of God and begin to see Him for who He truly is: a God of compassion, mercy, kindness, tenderness, patience, and love.

Each day, I like to have what I call my “Praise break”. It’s just a few minutes (5-15) in my day when I interrupt whatever I’m doing to praise God. As I begin to praise Him for what seems like little things, my lips find more reasons to praise Him. The more I praise, the more I find things to praise Him for. And then, I add in a praise song. Oh yes, you’ve got to have that praise song. So I put on a song of praise such as Incredible God, Incredible Praise by Youthful Praise and begin to sing with all my heart. And the bonus in all of that, if you build this habit, you will draw closer to the heart of God, your heart will be filled with joy, and many blessings will come your way. But don’t praise Him to receive the blessings, praise Him simply because He is your Father, the sovereign God of the universe and your maker. Blessings will naturally come down when you have a heart of praise. There is power in praise. As the saying goes:

~ When prayers go up, blessings come down. ~

So lift up your prayers of praise and thanksgiving right now. Get your praise on! And let the world know how marvelous is the Lord!

Eternal Father in Heaven, how marvelous you are! Today, I just want to praise you for who you are and for all that you have done for me in my life. I praise you in advance for the things you are about to do. I bless your holy name. I extoll you my God because you are good. I praise you Lord because I have tasted and seen that you are good. May your name be lifted high, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
