Praying For Your Future Spouse : Day 3 : Secure In Their Identity In Christ

Day 3: Secure In Their Identity In Christ

Father God, I thank you today for my future spouse and their fellowship with you. I pray that (he/she) would be rooted and secure in (his/her) identity in Christ Jesus. I pray also that (he/she) would be confident of the love you have for (him/her) and that because of this love, you created (him/her) in your very own image making (him/her) a true representation of who you are. May (he/she) know and be confident that (he/she) is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-14), precious in your sight (Isaiah 43:4), beloved (Song 2:16) and adored by the Living God. I pray that this knowledge will encourage (him/her) to walk confidently in Christ and not allow anyone or anything to define (him/her) because (he/she) knows that only you can define (him/her). I pray that (he/she) would know and believe that (he/she) is indeed the apple of your eye (Zechariah 2:8). May my future spouse be secure in (his/her) identity knowing well that above all (he/she) is a child of God, redeemed, and bought with the precious blood of Jesus.

This is my prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Becoming The One

Now that you have prayed for your future spouse’s identity in Jesus, I want you to meditate on yours by answering a few questions. Journal your answers and ask God to reveal the truth to you.

  • Do you believe that you are a child of God created in His image?
  • Who do you say that you are?
  • How critical are you of yourself? Do you ever think: “I am not good enough, not pretty or handsome enough, not smart enough, not creative enough, not {… fill in the gap}”

Now, refute the lies that the enemy has told you directly or indirectly through others or the lies you created in your mind about yourself by meditating on these scriptures and making them your prayer.

For you create my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalms 139:13-14 NIV

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love – Ephesians 1:3-4 NIV

And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. – Colossians 3:10 NIV

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. – Colossians 2:6-7 NIV
